Seattle Auditions Recap

After seeing last night’s episode of American Idol, I think we can all agree that Seattle has some bad singers. In fact, most of these singers weren’t even “funny bad” but were “just plain bad”, which is the worst kind of “bad” there is. Through most of the auditions last night, I had to partially cover my ears and even cover the ears of my cat as some of the singing sounded like the call of a dying animal to him. Therefore, after seeing last night’s dreadful auditions, I knew it wouldn’t be hard to pick my “Top 5 Psychos” of the night.

So without further adieu, here are my
Top 5 American Idol Psychos from Seattle:
(As usual, names are omitted to protect the untalented or give them any additional fame)

5. Taylor Hicks Reject: Having one Taylor Hicks is really all most people can handle. Having someone imitate the “Silver Fox” is excruciating.

4. Lemur Guy: So Simon told him that he looked like a “big-eyed monkey” (I think the animal that he was searching for was a Lemur). Although his facial features were a little odd, his talent level actually wasn’t that bad.

3. Lemur Guy’s Buddy: I felt a little bad for him because he sort of resembled a young John Candy.

2. Super Staring Guy: Definitely in the Hall of Fame for psychos from American Idol as he kept giving increasingly awkward and longer glances at the camera.

1. The Red Giant: First off, he had a tooth that wanted to escape his mouth. Secondly, he looked like an out of work lumberjack. Lastly, he sang like an infant. Bravo, I say! Bravo!

While watching last night’s episode, I was amazed at the amount of contestants who said that they had been working with a vocal coach yet were still terrible. I began to wonder, who were these coaches and how could they continue to get away with producing such bad singers? I don’t know exactly how a singer goes about selecting a vocal coach but something drastically needs to change in this profession.

Additionally, how many singers who hired a vocal coach for Idol actually ran a background check on their coaches? This practice is probably a smart idea for contestants next season as these coaches probably don’t have a studio of their own and have to teach out of their students’ homes.

See you next week!
