American Idol Watch #3: Memphis Auditions Recap
Memphis Auditions Recap
I must admit that I probably enjoy the auditions of American Idol more than the actual competition. You have to appreciate the United States of America because there truly is no other country on earth with stranger people. Though not as humorous as last week’s episodes, the Memphis auditions did have their share of characters. Therefore, here are my....
Top 5 American Idol Psychos from Memphis:
(As usual, names are omitted to protect the untalented or give them any additional fame)
5. Bubba Gump Girl: I don’t think I have seen anyone do a better imitation of Forrest Gump’s best friend in a long time. Who knew such a strange voice could come from someone so young?
4. Elvis Guy: I truly feel bad for him as he may be suffering from some sort of illness and thus worships Elvis.
3. Head Cheerleader: Quite an impressive entourage for someone who wasn’t good. (Though it was amusing when Simon told the band to quiet down and Ryan called him a “b#$A#$#.”)
2. Discount Justin Timberlake: I personally enjoy the combination of bad singing and dancing.
1. Mr. Emotional: This is why I watch American Idol. Mr. Emotional was very hyped up to sing his original and more importantly, “emotional” song. He then promised to bring emotion back to American Idol. Finally, it was his turn to perform and he did some sort of weird spoken word combined with some sort of spastic dancing where he threw his body in a diagonal direction. Genius!
It is funny that people get mad when they are told that they are not right for the show. The bottom line is that the judges really are professionals and do know what they are talking about. In fact, American Idol contestants are granted a great opportunity to be evaluated by top talent scouts who are probably the only professionals in the music industry that you don’t have to run a background check on!
