American Idol Watch #4: New York Auditions Recap
Ian Freaking Benardo!
There comes a time in every television viewer’s life when he or she stumbles upon greatness. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it makes you appreciate the wacky and weird magic of the “idiot box.” In fact, the last time such a magical moment happened to me was during an episode of Trading Spouses when one of the participants started screaming that she was a “God Warrior” over and over again. I didn’t think I would ever see anyone else on television crazier than that woman. Thankfully, one of those magical moments happened last night during American Idol.
I was truly blown away by the insaneness of Ian Benardo last night for the following reasons:
- He weighs about 85 pounds.
- He has a penchant for headbands.
- He is quite flamboyant.
- He is very concerned about illegal aliens.
If you put all of those factors together, you truly get one epic character.
