Anna Nicole Smith pronounced dead after being taken to a Florida hospital
Former Guess model and TrimSpa spokesperson Anna Nicole Smith has died after collapsing in her room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
According to early reports about the incident, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the incident reported that Smith was found unresponsive in her hotel room. There has been no word yet as to who found her or why they entered the room.
Smith was rushed from the hotel and to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, shortly after 2p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Smith was a Playboy Playmate, Guess model and actress. Smith was Playboy's playmate of the year in 1993, but garnered much of her fame for her resemblance to Marilyn Monroe and how she played up that look in magazine ads and billboards for the clothing giant Guess.
Smith has been a a subject of tabloid fodder for years. First, for her marriage to an eighty year old millionaire oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II and the subsequent fight over his estate following his death, was tabloids mainstay for years
On and off tabloids also published stories stating that Smith allegedly had issues with substance abuse.
Most recently, Smith's son 20-year-old son Daniel Smith died September 10, 2007 in his mother's hospital room shortly after she gave birth to a baby girl. Smith was involved in a lawsuit disputing the paternity of her 5-month-old daughter.
