As Google overtakes Technorati as the most popular blog search engine, Pandia ponders the pros and cons of blog searching.

Hitwise reports that Google Blog Search for the first time has passed Technorati to become the most popular blog search engine on the web

Google Blog Search began catching up to Technorati in October, when Google placed a link to this search engine on the Google News home. This caused a 168% surge in market share for Google Blog Search over a two week period, Hitwise reports.

This comes as no real big suprise to the Dubleche. It has been proven time and time again that a niche group will enjoy the limelight for a fair amount of time, but once the masses become privvy to the latest fad, it will undoubtedly become fodder for Google.

Better Photo Search Could Reduce Privacy

A Swedish startup is combining software and humans to help make photos and other images more easily searchable online, raising privacy concerns as the technology eases the tracking of people across Web sites.

First there was Riya and now there is Polar Rose. I would like this to go one step further and have this technology paired with current people search services. Imagine a people search result paired with a photo and current contact information, now that would be cool.
